Professor Heinz Katschnig

Heinz Katschnig is past chairman and emeritus professor of psychiatry of the Psychiatric Department of the Medical University of Vienna/Austria. He has a long-standing interest in all aspects of social psychiatry and community mental health, and has especially worked on deinstitutionalization, stigma, and quality of life in mental disorders. He has over 400 publications in these and related fields. His book, co-edited with Norman Sartorius and Hugh Freeman, on quality of life in mental disorders has been published in two editions and four languages.
